Mine sites, plants, and back home.
Niall Hoult is a New Zealand electrician who spent a long stretch working on mine sites and processing plants in Western Australia and the Northern Territory, then moved across into electrical project management and estimating on commercial and industrial jobs.
He still consults to electrical contractors in Western Australia, pricing and planning industrial projects.
Coming home put the focus where it is now — EMCC Limited, doing industrial electrical and mechanical work across the South Island.
How we work
How the work is run.
Safe delivery
Industrial sites have their own rules and we work to them. Permits, isolations and inductions are planned into the job rather than sorted out on the morning.
Coordination
Both trades are carried in-house, so the mechanical and electrical sides of a job are sequenced together rather than negotiated between contractors.
Documentation
Test results and as-installed marked up, handed over with the job. If the paperwork isn't right the job isn't finished.
Minimal downtime
The outage window is usually the real constraint, so the work is scoped and sequenced against it.
The workshop

There's a five-axis waterjet in our workshop in Cromwell. It isn't sold as a cutting service — it's there so mounts, brackets, adaptor plates and replacement parts for plant with no drawings left can be made in-house rather than ordered in.
